When I applied for Object Management Group’s OCEB beta exam 18 years ago, I was not aware how it would change my life. One simple blog post by Bruce Silver triggered an avalanche of events.
While preparing for the exam, I learned a lot not only about BPMN, but also about other standards and methods important for BPM practitioners. Some years later, this allowed me to join the BPMN Model Interchange Working Group, create a course on Udemy about process modeling with BPMN, and become part of the team updating the OCEB exam, to name just a few.
Today I want to invite you to join the beta tests of the new OMG certification. This new exam is much more standard-oriented. There are no questions about the general business topics that were part of the original OCEB exam, so you do not need to read the “MBA in a day” book (which is, however, pretty fun to read) 😉
What to expect from the beta exam? Because such exams allow OMG to test the questions and see if they are neither too easy nor too hard, there are more questions than in the normal exam: 150, to be precise.
Questions about BPMN are 70% of the exam and DMN questions 15%. The remaining part is split into BMM (Business Motivation Model) and CMMN (Case Management Model and Notation): 10% and 5%, respectively.
If you are interested in BPM (you do not need to be an expert with years of experience) and want to invest a few hours in preparing for the exam, you can get a voucher that allows you to take it for free either in Pearson VUE centers or online. If you pass it, you will get an official OMG certificate plus unofficial bragging rights 😉
To sign up, send me an email (zbigniew@bpmtips.com and CC zbigniew.misiak@boc-pl.com), and I will send you the information about the next steps.
